Abstract The study aimed to investigate the possible genetic association of transforming growth factor- β1 (TGF-β1) +915G/C, -509C/T and -800G/A single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and MIP-1β protein with idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). CTS patients showed increased serum levels of TGF-β1 and macrophage inflammatory protein-1β (MIP-1β). Minor alleles of both TGF-β1 rs1800471 (+915G/C) and rs1800469 (-509C/T) polymorphisms were associated with CTS. Also, these alleles were associated with TGF-β1 and MIP-1β overproduction. Major allele of rs1800468 (-800G/A) polymorphism showed an association with CTS. Moreover, this major allele was associated with increased TGF-β1 and MIP-1β serum levels. |
