Abstract

All over the world, Egyptian Gulf of Suez attract the attention of exploration
geologists to discover the crude oil from different reservoirs, The Gulf of Suez
considered one of the most important hydrocarbon provinces in Egypt and
throughout the world since it still have a new exploration opportunities.
GS277 Field is located in the central part of the Gulf of Suez North West of
the giant Ramadan field. The field has been discovered since 1982 and producing
since 1984 from the Kareem sand reservoir
The main purpose of this study is to define and build robust Static model for
the field, understand the depositional environment and the reservoir properties
variation for the Kareem sand reservoir to drain any bypassed oil in the field. Also
to find out any appraisal/exploration opportunities to extend the field and
maximize the proven reserves within the field
The present study integrates mainly the interpretation of seismic data, well
ditch cuttings data, subsurface geologic data and logging data of five wells drilled
in GS277 field to achieve the main goals of the study
In addition, this study focused on the elements and processes for the
petroleum system of GS277 field with special consideration for the Duwi and
lower Rudeis formations as the regional source rocks across the area.
The study concluded the existence of two main isolated structural blocks
within the field. Also , the study highlighted that the Kareem sand reservoir is
deposited as a fan delta sourced from the Eastern side of Gulf of Suez and the
reservoir experience a major enhancement towards the East.
This study pointed out to two opportunities, one is exploration opportunity
to the east of the current producing field and the second opportunity is an appraisal
opportunity within the field to maximize the proven reserve in such a brown field
