Abstract

emphasizing the severity of liver dysfunction. Correlation analysis reinforced the RDW/lymphocytes ratio’s association with key liver function parameters (ALT, AST, GGT, T. Bilirubin), as well as its inverse relationship with indicators of hematological health (hemoglobin, RBCs, platelets count), establishing the ratio’s relevance in assessing liver cirrhosis severity. Logistic regression analysis identified the RDW/lymphocytes ratio as a significant predictor for post-hepatic cirrhosis, with an odds ratio indicating its potential utility in clinical settings for diagnosing cirrhosis. Lastly, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis validated the RDW/lymphocytes ratio’s effectiveness in differentiating between cirrhotic patients and both hepatitis patients and controls, showcasing its high specificity and sensitivity at optimal cutoff values.
Conclusion: This study has provided important insight into the use of noninvasive techniques for diagnosis of HBV-related cirrhosis. This study demonstrated that both RDW and RDW/lymphocyte ratio are significantly associated with HBV-related liver cirrhosis, showing a clear distinction in values between cirrhotic patients, hepatitis B patients, and healthy controls.
