Abstract Synthetic corticosteroids are routinely administered to pregnant women with threatened preterm delivery to prevent or reduce complications of prematurity. Several studies evaluated the effect of antenatal corticosteroids on the fHR parameters with contradictory results. Thus, it is important to interpret the changes that occur in fHR parameters during corticosteroid treatment correctly, to avoid unnecessary iatrogenic preterm delivery. In the present prospective cohort study we aimed at detecting changes in fHR variability in relation to dexamethasone administration, in addition to study the CTG parameters via visual interpretation before and after antenatal dexamethasone administration. |
