Abstract

Air pollution poses a significant threat to human health and the environment, particularly in densely populated areas. The detrimental effects of air pollution caused by industrial activities within residential zones have become a pressing concern, necessitating effective Air Pollution Assessment measures. The study begins by stating the main problem and collecting literature review for further understanding of air pollution and its causes and effects, it also discusses the steps taken towards solving the problem. Finally addressing the gap of the study and the focus of the research. This is why it is essential to investigate and understand the approaches and trends in Air Pollution Assessment. The study explores the global frameworks for air pollution assessment and control focusing on the agreements that have been signed by Egypt. Each with specific purposes and methodologies to finally find the best suitable framework to be applied in Egypt.
To align with Egypt’s regulatory efforts and identify areas of immediate concern, the study assesses the limitations in air pollution prediction. Further research is conducted to determine the most relevant framework for the Egyptian case, leading to the introduction of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), a framework embedded in the Kyoto Protocol. The CDM Framework emphasizes prediction, mitigation and adaptation strategies, as well as accurate simulation and estimation methods to identify highly polluted areas. CDM case studies have been selected and studied for further research for the various methods and techniques for air pollution prediction and mitigation.
