Abstract Introduction: Effect of bone marrow transplantation on prognosis of high risk neuroblastoma and need for radiotherapy with bone marrow transplant and its influence on prognosis and survival. The aim of work: to evaluate the prognosis of neuroblastoma patients after autologous bone marrow transplant (ABMT) followed by radiotherapy and to compare it with those who didn’t receive radiotherapy. Research Plan: mixed cohort study including high-risk neuroblastoma patients received bone marrow transplant followed by radiotherapy and those who didn’t receive radiotherapy post-transplant to evaluate their prognosis with each other and with high-risk neuroblastoma patients who didn’t receive bone marrow transplant. Results: Relapse and death rate was higher in non-transplanted group (87.5%) than in transplanted group (46.7%). Radiotherapy didn’t affect relapse rates showing no statistically significant differences between patients received and who didn’t receive radiotherapy. Conclusion: Bone marrow transplantation (ABMT) for high risk neuroblastoma (HRNB) associated with low death rate ,improved survival and disease progression, less recurrence rate but radiotherapy (RT)show no significant influence on prognosis. |
