Abstract

Egypt, as one of the Mediterranean countries, has unique biodiversity which reflects its habitats, position and climate. It is a host of wide variety of terrestrial and aquatic habitats. The present Study aims to: provide a literature review dealt with changes that happened in vegetation communities and its habitats in the Deltaic Mediterranean coast of Egypt between two Nile branches (Rosetta and Damietta), through comparing and discussion of the present results with previous related studies and determinate the range of human impacts upon vegetation structure and habitats. One hundred and eighty stands were sampled in the study area representing different habitats and human impacts in the study area. In each stand, coordinates, habitats and human impact types were recorded, three soil samples for analysis were collected, threat degree (%), species richness and species turnover of each habitat type and vegetation group were calculated. Two hundred and fifty-one species belonging to 155 genera and 50 families were recorded including 109 perennials (43.3%).
