Abstract

Warts are benign lesions that occur in the mucosa and skin and caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. There are more than 200 different genotypes having been identified of these DNA viruses. It may occur at any site e.g. common warts, genital warts, deep palmoplanter warts, plane warts, mosaic warts and digitate warts. Microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 (LC3) has been used as a specific marker to monitor autophagy. Upon induction of autophagy, LC3 is conjugated to phosphatidylethanolamine and targeted to autophagic membranes. Therefore, changes in LC3 level have been used to measure autophagy
