Abstract
The aim of the present investigation was to study the distribution and activity of the cellulolytic fungi in Mansoura (Dakahlia) soils. It aims also to find out the most active isolated cellulolytic fungus and the evaluation of the experimental conditions for increasing its cellulolytic enzyme production and activity. The cellulolytic fungal flora of the 32 soil samples, which were collected from different localities and soil types (clay soils of the delta and sandy clay soils of salt marshes of El-Matariya and Gamasa), 56 species and five isolates of sterile mycelia were isolated and identified.
