Abstract
The present study was carried out at Damietta branch of River Nile (from Mansoura City to Faraskour embankment) in the period from April 1978 to March1979. The objective of the work was to study the production and distribution of the phytoplankton in relation to the physical and chemical parameters. Nine sampling stations were chosen lengthwise the above mentioned area. Monthly samples of water were taken for measurement of phytoplankton, chlorophylls as well as chemical parameters. Air and water temperatures, transparency and electric conductivity were also measured.
