Abstract Two experiments in which both seeds of Phaseolus vulgaris var. Contender (leguminous plant) and Gossypium barbadense var. Giza 86 (non-leguminous plant) were germinated and planted in clay-sand soil (2 : 1,v/v) either singly or in combination with increasing concentrations of putrescine or spemrine, were conducted. Both experiments were designed ti investigate the possible effects of using polyamine compounds (putrescine and spermine) in the regulation of growth and development as well as in the concurrent physiological effects of such polycations on the endogenous contents of carbohydrates, pigments, nitrogen constituents, proteins, proline, nucleic acids (DNA & RNA) and polyamines. |
