Abstract This dissertation contributed to the area of the load flow problem with the development of a new technique for calculating the voltage solution. The investigation was motivated by the wide application of digital computers to solve the load flow problems. The technique is called the constant matrix method and it is based on computing the correction matrix and its inverse only once in the first iteration and at each node and then kept constant to be used throughout all the iterations. Prior t o these computations, initial voltage assumptions are investigated and finally deduced from the knowledge and information available in the network system. A considerable saving in computation time is accomplished by this method over other method in which the correction matrix and its inverse are re- computed during each iteration until the final voltage solution is reached. Tables and graphs are presented to show the suitability of initial assumptions and the comparison between the actual and constant matrix methods. |
