Abstract

Survey study of predaceous mites and insects inhabiting fruit trees and vegetable crops during one year 2001 / 2002 proved the occurrence of eight mites and five insect. These species were Amblyseius swirskii (A. <U+2013> H.), Euseius scutalis (A. <U+2013> H.), Phytoseius plumifer ( C & F ) and Typhlodromus talbii (A. <U+2013> H.). A. swirskii Agistemus exertus Gonzalez , Anystus sp., Neocunaxoides anderi, Stethorus gilvifrons (Mulsant), Cydonia vicina isis Cr. and Chilocorus bibustulatus L., Flattiela sp.. The predatory mite A. exsertus was reared at 20, 25 and 30 0 C. At 20 0 C, Life cycle durated 25.20; 16.20 and 10.47 days for female immatures and 22.40; 16.20 and 9.60 days for male at 20, 25 and 30 0 C, respectively..Life table parameters of A. exsertus clearly indicated that thermal factor has a great influence. The mean generation time (T) (T) values were 42.90, 28.60 and 16.39 days at 20, 25 and 30 0 C, respectively. That means rising temperature shortened the mean generation time. Also, net reproductive rate (R0 ) averaged 10.31 and significantly increased to 23.47 then declined to reach 16.12 when the predator at 20, 25 and 30 0 C, respectively. and rm values were 0.05, 0.11 and 0.16 individuales / female / day when the predatory mite individuals were kept at 20, 25 and 30 0 C, respectively. The finite rate of increase erm values averaged 1.05, 1.11 and 1.18 at the three temperatures respectively. Male of Stethorus gilvifrons completed life cycle before female immatures where the life cycle averaged 17.70 and 19.90 days for male and female, respectively. Average male and female longivety was 24.33 and 36.46 days, respectively. Average male and female life span was 42.06 and 56.40. Life table parameters of Stethorus gilvifrons The mean generation time (T) averaged 30.41days. Net reproductive rate (Ro) was 49.53 and the intrinsic rate of natural increase (rm) was 0.12 , the finite rate of increase erm ((Sn? (Bwas 1.13.Feeding capacity and fecundity of Phytoseiulus persimilis fed on nymphal stages of the two <U+2013> spotted spider mites were highly affected by the plant texture and rearing substrates. P. persimilis, female preferred leaves of bean, apple and fig to lay eggs and the egg deposition was significantly decreased when maintained on cucumber and squash leaves. The lowest rates of fecundity were obtained on mango and cotton leaves. Adult female laid an average of 39.5, 37.3 and 36.1 eggs / 10 days with daily rate of 3.95, 3.73 and 3.61 eggs / <U+2640> / day on bean, apple and fig leaves, respectively, compared to 31.5, 30.5, 25.6 and 25.1 eggs / <U+2640> on squash, cucumber, mango and cotton leaves, respectively. Release P. persimilis and S. gilvifrons at levels (T1) 1 : 20, (T2) 1 : 40 and (T3) 1 : 60, respectively caused reduction percentages of eggs of T. urticae and moving stages of T. urticae P. persimilis, is one of the most dominant exotic phytoseiid mites in Egypt, which may play an important role as an effective factors for reducing the population of the two spotted spider mite beside other factors in IPM scheme. Also, lady bug S. gilvifrons is highly recommended to play an important role for supressing T. urticae in open field and under greenhouse.
