Abstract This study was eonducted on 16 patieAts submitted for surgical interference to determine the cardiovascular effects of spinal analgesia using xYlOcaine in Pat- ients with bilharzial hepatic fibrosis. All patients were subjected to preoperative clinical examination to exclude cardiovascular diseases, endocrinal disturbance, severe anaemia, other nutritional deficiencies and advanced bilharzial hepatic fibrosis manifested clinically by shrunken cirrhotic liver and asoites. Pethidiae ia a dose of 50 mg was intrmuscularly injected one hour before spinal analgesia as premedicant drug. Blood pressure and pulse rate were recorded preoperatively and every 10 minutes after spinal analgesia till one hour afterwords. The patients included in this study were classified into two groups: 1. Non - bilharzial group (Oontrol group): The patients of this group (11 males and 1 female), were submitted for different minor surgical procedures.Their mean body weight was 68.66 Kg. |
