Abstract

Previous works confirmed the presence of maltase or neutral alpha-1 4-glucosidase in human seminal plasma. In men this enzyme has a widespread organ distribution, and it was established that in the reproductive organs the highest specific activity of the cytosolic alpha-glucosidase was found in the epididymis, followed by the testis & the prostate . This study included Forty seven azoospermic patients coming consulting for sterility in out-patient clinics, Eight patients with C.B.A.V. and Fifteen as control who fathered children within the last two years and their semen pictures were within the normal range. Full history was taken including :- Personal, Present, past, Family, and theraputic history. All patients were submitted to careful clinical examination: general & local. Then the following investigations were done : - Semen analysis - Urine examination & prostatic smear. # ” ’ -- ~~ - Serum collection & F.S.H level determination using R.I.A.
