Abstract (1 )The aim of this study was to clarify and identify the possible pathogenic factors that may be responsible for or contribute to the occurrence of glucose intolerance in bilharzia! patients. (2) This study comrised 40 patients and 10 healthy volunteers as a control group. The patients were classified into the following groups: a)Bilharzial non diabetic group: 10 patients with age ranging from 20-70 years, and further subclassified into: i)Ascitic group: (6 patients) -mild to moderate ascites: 4 patients -tense ascites : 2 patients ii)Non ascitic group: (4 patients). c)Diabetic non bilharzial group: 10 patientswith age ranging from 16- 65 years, and further subclassified into: i) Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM): 5 patients ii) Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM): 5 patients. c)Bilharzial NIDDM group: 10 patients with age ranging from 41-66 years. d) Bilharzial HeV group: 10 patients with age ranging fro In 30-65 years. |
