Abstract

Diabetic nephropathy is a common complication of diabetes mellitus .The higher morbidity of these disease is related to cardiovascular disease. There is a good correlation between specific diabetic complication consisting of , retinopathy, autonomic neuropathy and between left ventercular function. This study was done to evaluate left ventercular systolic and diastolic function in type 1 diabetic patients with and without micro albuminuria The selected patints were not suffring from any conditions that would affect the left ventricular function other than diabetic nephropathy . The thirty seven type 1 diabetic patints were classified into two main groups :- Group 1:- 12 diabetic patients without micro albuminuria. Group IT :_ 25 diabetic patient with proteinura ( diabetic nephropathy ) and these group were subclassified according to U .A.E into two subgroups :- Group ITA :- 13 diabetic patient with micro albuminuria GroupIIB:- 12 diabetic patient with macro albuminuria. The ruslts were compared to ten normal healthy subjects of matched age and sex. All patients and controls were subjected to through medical examination and investigation which includes :- fasting, 2 hours post prandial blood sugar .serum creatinine, urinary albumin excretion ,E C G, autonomic function tests, echocardiography and doppler examination . Some patients with micro albuminuria was taken ACE I ( captopril 25 mg )..
