Abstract The aim o~ this work is to study the ~requencies o~ musculoskeletal mani~estations in thyroid disorders, mode o~ presentation, clinical picture and its sequelae. It was aimed also to evaluate these mani~estations be~ore and a~ter control o~ the thyroid disorder, in some cases. The present study comprised 35 patients, 20 patients with clinical and laboratory evidences o~ hyperthyroidism, 15 patients with clinical and laboratory evidences o~ hypothyroidism and 20 apparently healthy subjects as a re~erence group o~ matched age and sex. Full medical history and thorough clinical examination were done ~or all patients. Functional status o~ the thyroid gland was con~irmed using T3, T4 and TSH. Roentgenographic examination was also per~ormed ~or every patient, including plain x-rays ~or vertebral column, knees, both hands and ~eet. ~ A Battery o~ laboratory investigations were done ~or all patients including serum calcium, phosphorus, cholesteral and creatine kinase. |
