Abstract The present study comprised 44 patients with acute myocaardial infarction a admited to the Coronary Care Unit at Mansoura University Hospital as a test group (11 females & 33 males with age ranging from 34 to 78 years). The test group included 22 diabetic patients & another 22 non diabetic subjects. A control group of 16 normal subjects matched age & sex was also involved. The aim of the present study is to demonsterate the alteration in the leucocytic function during the acute phase of myocardial infarction. It is also extended to involve a comparison in the behavior in leucocytes in those patients in the presence or abscence of diabetes mellitus. The present study comprised electrocardigraphic, echocardiographic, cardiac enzymes, Blood lipids and some function tests evaluation. Inaddition some haematological study and ESR determination were carried out leucocytic function parameters. The diabetic subgroup showed non significant decrease in Qrs axis (P)O.05), significant shorting in QRs duration (P<O.05), significant prolongation in the PR interval (P<O.05), significant prolongation of the Q-Tc interval (P<O.05) and non-significant change in the P-terminal force when compared to the non-diabetic subgroup. |
