Abstract

This work had been carried on 100 patients with various bronchpulmonary diseases as pulmonary tuberculosis ¬bronchiectasis, bronchogenic carcinoma, Pneumonia) asthmatic patients in addition to 25 apparently healthy controls For each case, the following procedure were done. 1- Direct microscopic examination of the different samples for detection of yeast cells, septate hyphae and characteristic Aapergillar head. 2- Culture of the different samples on Sabouraud1s dextrose agar with chloramphenicol. The mycological examination of oropharyngeal swab by direct microscopic examination showed that 14% of the studied cases were suggestive for fungal infection. By culture fungus was isolated in 38% of cases. 37% of them gave one type of isolate and only 1% gave mixed isolates. It was found that the isolated fungi were in the order of frequency Candida albicans (15 % ) , Rhdotorula 13% . Aspergillus fumigatus 3%,Aspergillus niger 2% Candida tropicalis 2%, Aspergillus flavus 1% , Rhizoppus 1% and mixed isolates (1 %). The mycological examination of sputum by direct.
