Abstract
This study was carried out on 54 cancer patients from the oncoLogy unit and general Srurgioa1 dep-nrtment from Man sour a University HospLtal. We aiIlLed to study the prevelence of yeast species in different groups of can cer patients , The patients ware diVided into 3 groups: Group I: Patients with cancer neither receLving radiotherapy nor chemotherapy. (18). Group II: Patients with cancer receiving chemotherapy. (16). Group III: Patients With cancer receiving radiotherapy. (20) The specimens were taken from urine, stool, throat and sputum. The specimens were examined,inoc41ation of the specimens on Sabaraud’ s medi a, the growth obtained was isolated and stained by gram stain. Yeast species were identified usine germ tube for mation, chlrunYdospore production,sugar fermentation, sugar.
