Abstract The aim of the present study was to evaluate planned extra capsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber I.O.L. implantation in diabetic patients as regards, the type of the implanted lens, and the postoperative results, the complications and its management. The study included 160 cataractous eyes of 143 patients. Eyes were divided into 4 groups: Group (1): Consisted of 36 eyes of diabetic patients for which planned extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber PMMA lens implantation was carried out. Group (II): Consisted of 42 eyes of diabetic patients for which planned extra capsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber HSM lens implantation was carried out. Group (III): Consisted of 42 eyes of diabetic patients for which extra capsular cataract extraction without lens implantation was carried out as acontrol group. |
