Abstract The corneal pannus is one of the important clinical problems in ophthalmology. Pannus is a superficial vascularization accompanied be cellular infiltration, invading a segment of the corneal or extending around the entire limbus. Pannus may be active ltprogressive or regressivelt or inactive. may be annular all around the limbus as in trachoma or sector as in phlctenulmsis and acne rosacea. Pannus may be flesh vascuLar or thin, may be follicular or diffuse. Vascular invasion is alwas preceeded boedema. exudation or some epithelial disturba¬nces. Long standing corneal oedema and bullous kerato- pathma result in pannus formation.
