Abstract
Glaucoma is condsidered as one of the most important proble ophthalmology as it is one of the main leading causes which can be avoided if the disease is diagnosed ear treated effectively and in time. Our study was done on 50 patients classified as follow:~ 13 primary open-angle glaucomatous patients. - 15 primary angle-closure glaucomatous patients. 12 patients considered to be risk factors for t: ~evelopment of open-angle glaucoma, 7 of whom are diabetics and arterial hypertensives. - 10 apparantly healthy cases taken as a control group. Chosen patients were endocrinologically free and not undl hormonal therapy. Blood samples were taken from each patient between the hOur 9am and lOam. and analysed for cortisol level by E.L.I.Z.A technique. The results of our research are as follow :- The mean plasma cortisol level in primary openangle glaucomatous patients is 16.84 mg/dl, in angle-cIOSUre.
