Abstract Intercondylar fractures of the humerus are some of the difficult and controversial fractures to treat. The aim of this work is to evaluate the results of treatment of these fractures by open reduction and rigid internal fixation according to the guidelines established by the AD group. We reviewed ,the anatomy of the distal end of the humenus, the biomechanics of the elbow, and the diagnosis and methods of treatment of intercondylar fractures of the humers. This work is based on a retrospective study of 14 cases and a prospective study of 6 cases of intercondYlar fractures of the humerus. However 5 patients could not be traced, so 15 patients were included in the study. These cases were treated by open reduction and rigid internal fixation uti llzing the transolecranon approach and the AO plates and ncrews. |
