Abstract Insulin like growth factor II (lGF-II) is a 67 amino acid polypeptide lructurally related to KiF-I, KiF-II is mainly synthctizcd and secreted by he liver. Previous reports relating to serum levels of IGF in patients with hronic liver diseases usually involved alcholic liver diseases. To our nowledge, serum levels of IGFs in children with chronic liver diseases has not been studied. Therefore we measured serum IGF-ll in children ith cirrhosis and chronic active hepatitis to evaluate diagnostic value and to determine if there was any correlation between its serum levels and The present study comprised twenty eight patients with chronic liver disease followed up in Pediatric Gastroenterology Out patients Clinics at Hospital , in addition to 15 healthy children as a Patients were classified according to histopathological characterization into two groups: Group I: Patients with hepatic cirrhosis(15 cases). Twelve were males and three were females, their ages ranged from 5-15 years. |
