Abstract A case record descriptive study of 308 cases of head namely maXIllofacial. that were admitted to Hospital (in the period December 1986 to 1989) was carried out. Male predominance was noticed and the sex .ratio was The mean age for these types of injuries was years with no significant difference between and females (t = 1.72. p > 0,05). Two peaks for 306 incidence were observed. the first peak was in the first 10 of life (30,85%) and that might be explained by lack of appropriate supervision for the large number of children found in bIg families of rural areas and also the lack of recreational areas for these children who spend most of the time In the streets. The second peak (25.97%) was in the third decade of life and it seems to be related to the dominant outdoor activities of that productive stage of life. The age and sex distribution indicates a considerably large number of males in the most productive years of life. This productivity loss serves to highlight the size of the problem which is otherwise hidden. |
