Abstract The aim of this vlork Vias to study the different causes of jaundice in hepatosplenic bilharzial patients and the methods for diagnosis to reach to proper ines of treatment. studied 37 jaundiced patients with hepatosplenic bilharziasis. 11 cases had been subjected to through history taking, clinical examination and, to some investigations.4) History taking include personal history, duration of jaundice, history of drug intake, needline, blood transfusion, appetite, itching, abdominal pain and history of bilharziasis) Clinical examination had been done with stressing on the size of the liver and spleen, degree of jaundice, represence or absetce of ascites and all other manifestions of liver cell failure.6) Investigations done Vlere : stool analysis, complete blood picture vlith reticulocytic count, serum bilirubin serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (S.G.P.T.) and alkaline phosphatase for all cases. Other investigations had been done only in some cases included. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) abdominal ultra sonography and prednisolone test. |
