Abstract

The HLA class-I genes can be divided into those that are highly polymorphic, called classical class-I genes (or class la genes), and those that show very little polymorphism, called non-classical class-I genes (or class Ib genes). The non-classical class Ib genes include HLA-E, -F, -G, -H,-J, -X and others HLA-G is one of non-classical class Ib genes, exhibits more limited polymorphism than the classical class la, HLA-A, -B and C molecules. The primary transcript of the HLA-G is spliced into 6mRNA forms (HLA-GI to HLAG6), two of them may encodesoluble forms of HLA-G antigens which are (HLA-G5 and HLA-G6). HLA-G is expressed on subpopulations of trophoblasts at the maternal/fetal interface, that lack expression of HLA-A’ -B and –C molecules. HLA-G not only expressed in placental troPhoblasts, but also, expressed in a variety of cells and adult tissues (peripheral blood.
