Abstract
This study was carried out with the aim to identify some factors correlated with psychoactive substance abuse: demographic, social characteristics, intrafamilial relations, co-existing psychopathology and search for addictive personality constitution in Egyptian culture. A multidimensional approach to the problem as a biopsychosocial phenomenon, and more specific identification of subgroups which could be helpful in prevention, treatment and follow up were tried in this study. The theoretical part of the thesis started with shedding light on the concept of substance use disorder including historical perspectives, epidemiology, current nosological disciplines of substance use disorder, followed by most recent causative models (theories) for substance abuse. Further on, we have mentioned psychosoclaf aspects of drug use msorder ttTen we nave men(roned in details different psychiatric disorders associated with substance use disorders. As regards the practical part of the thesis, the description of the design in this work as well as of the tools utilized in it was firstly presented, Then, the results obtained through the study.
