Abstract A total of 1358 samples were collected from June 1996 to June, They were classified into 608 form patients 390 from environment 360 from personnel. All samples were subjected to aerobic culture MacConkey and blood agar plates, anaerobic culture on Columbia plates in anaerobic station and fungal culture on sabauroud’s media. Identification of isolated microbes was done by automated system .itek” and API for aerobes, anaerobes and yeasts. Antibiogram was carried out for isolated microbes from patients by diffusion and Vitek for aerobes and Candifast for Candida. In this study nosocomial infections developed in 38.9% from the studied patients in ICUs. There were 38.8%, 37.7% and 45.5% in .. CD, ICU and SCU respectively. In the present study the mean age of patients not developed : nosocomial infections was 49.76+ 18.14, patients developed nosocomial ; infections was 51.21 + 18.83 and patients admitted by community acquired infections was 52.69±20.31. There was non significante P>0.05 correlation of age groups (classified by decades) and development of nosocomial infections in ICUS. |
