Abstract

Optical coherence Tomography is new, non contact, non invasive imaging technology capable of producing crosssectional images of the retina in vivo with high resolution. OCT is analogous to Ultrasound except that the Use of light rather than sound enables higher resolutioIL Because of OCT is using infra-red, so that is better tolerated by patient either fluorscein angiography OCT has much less disadvantage as compared by FA OCT is based on the classic principle of Optic” Low Coherence Interferometry” Which can be used to measure distances to objects by measuring light reflected from them. The highest reflection is represented by red and white the lowest reflection is represented by black and blue. OCT can be used to diagnose characteristic morphologies in the anterior eye, macula or fundus and create a diagnosis record similar to fundus photography, OCT images give information about normal anterior eye, macula, optic disc and retinal pathology. Also, OCT images contain quantative information on dimension of intra-ocular.
