Abstract This study has been carried on 87 patients suffering from dacryocystitis. In all patients, the samples were collected from the content of the lacrimal sac were cultured on blood agar, fastidious anaerobic agar and on sabauroud dextrose agar. Antibiotic sensitivity test was then done for the isolated organisms. The study shows that, Gram positive bacteria were found In 55% of the samples. Staphylococci were found to be the most common Gram positive organism and accounting for 40%.On the other hand gram negative organism represent 15% of the total isolates. The anaerobic bacteria were found inl0% of the over all isolates. The percentage of the fungi and mixed flora isolates were 9% and 5% respectively. There are no microorganisms isolated in 6% of cases. Culture and sensitivity test showed that 48% of the isolats were sensitive to ofloxacine, where as, only 4% of. the isolates were sensitive to chloramphenicol. |
