Abstract The aim of this study is to analyze the results obtained with the different modalities of limb salvage in different types of osteosarcoma aiming at highlighting the most suitable approach to a given case of osteosarcoma. The different variables in the patient personality, surgical tactics, reconstructive modalities will be taken as the main milestone in evaluating the results, oncological and functional outcome of the used modality will be the main focus in evaluation. In this study we reviewed the literatures about osteosarcoma as the commonest primary malignant bone tumour as regard its epimdemiology, possible predisposing and etiological factors, its pathological behavior with its different classifications, different procedures for diagnosis and staging. Also, we reviewed different lines for management strictly concentrating on limb saving strategies including the different modalities of resection, nco-adjuvant therapy protocols and different techniques in reconstruction lastly V explored some prognostic factors. This work was carried out in the Surgical Orthopaedic Oncology unit (S.O.O.U). Mansoura Orthopaedic department, Mansoura Faculty of Medicine. Patients with osteosarcoma managed by limb salvage concept through the last 10 years. |
