Abstract

Food colourants are wide — spread all over the world and their gl production is about 7500 tons per year. The coloured erythrosine is considere one of these synthetic materials. The present research was conducted to study the histological and A/stochemicaJ changes of the liver of albino rates after short and long perk administration of erythrosine and also to study its effect on human chromoso pattern to show its clastogenic effect if any. This research demonstrated * effects of erythrosine both in vivo and in vitro. In vivO Studies: 100-albino male and female rats were use< experimental animals. Rats were classified into 2 main groups: Group A:This group was composed of 60 adult albino rats to study histological and histochemical effects of erythrosine on their livers. This gn was divided into 6subgroups: Subgroup I : Composed of 10 rats served as negative control. They v administered food and Water ad -Libitum. No chemicals w added. Subgroup II : Composed of 10 rats given erythrosine as 0.25% mixed with tlground food for 120 days. Subgroup III: Composed of 10 rats given erythrosine 1%mixed with their grotfood for 120 days.Subgroup IV: Composed of 10 rats given erythrosine as 2% mixed with tli ground food for 120 days.$»bgro»f> V :Composed of W rats giver?erythr&s’frre as <4% mixed with fhet ground food for 120 days.Subgroup VI: Composed of 10 rats given erythrosine as 5% mixed with their ground food for f 20 days
