Abstract

This study was carried out with the aim of exploring of some epidemiological features of tuberculosis and compliance of tuberculous patients ’towards treatment. Also, this study was aiming to detenning presence of BCG ’;scar among tuberculous patients and control. Clarification of knowledge, [attitude and practice of tuberculous patients and health workers dealing them ; were important aims of the work besides study of the immunological profile of cellular immunity among tuberculous patients and control. This work was conducted on tuberculous patients attending chest facilities(dispensaries and hospitals) to take their treatment. The tuberculous patients should complete at least five months of treatment. Their age was above 15 years. isttalnutnber of patients was 212 of them 81,47,39,35 and 10 patients from hsoura, Shirbin, Dkrnis, 5mblaween and Nabroh cities respectively. The total humber of control was 106 of them 40,23,20,18 and 5 control selected from the previous cities respectively. Also, this study was conducted on health workers (nurses and social workers) who delt with tuberculous patients and they should received training program about DOTS strategy. Health workers (nurses) did not deal with tuberculous patient and not received, the training program were included in the study. The total number of trained health workers was 200 and the non trained was represented by the same number. The number of trained health workers was 73,16,42,54 and 10 health workers (nurses and social worker) from Mansoura, Shirbin, Dkrnis, 5mblaween and Nabroh cities respectively. The number of non trained health workers (nurses) was represented by the same numbers of trained health workers from the previous cities respectively. For every individual included in the study a well designed questionnaire was filled. For tuberculous patients and control, blood examination in the form of C04, C08, mitogen transfonnation, chemotaxis and apoptosis were done to study the immunological profile of cellular immunity. Regarding the socio-demographic characters of the studied tuberculous patients, the study revealed that, the mean age of tuberculous patients was 42.8± 7 AI. Males represent (70.8%) of tuberculous patients. Nearly (50.5%) of the patients were from rural. Manual workers represented (42%) of tuberculous patients. There were 3 students, 2 teachers and a lawyer among tuberculous patients. The law” moderate and high social score represented (23.1 %), (58.5%) and (18A%) respectively of tuberculous patients. Cigarette and goza smoking were significantly associated with TB. Presence of animal in the house, diabetes mellitus, family history of tuberculosis, high crowding index and dusty floor of the house and illiteracy were considered as important risk factors of TB while, family size and level of social score, were not significantly associated with TB.
