Abstract This work aims to evaluate the diagnostic value of different sonographic techniques in patients with gynecological causes of ’chronic pelvic pain. This study included 42 female patients complaining of gynecological causes of chronic pelvic pain. Their ages ranged from 22 to 48 years with the mean age of 32.7 years. All cases were subjected to full clinical examination, plain X- ray for abdomend pelvis and lumbosacral spine and different US techniques including transabdominal and transvaginal examination, aided with color and pulsed Doppler. Hydrogynecography was done for 8 cases. Hystrosalpingeography was done for 9 cases. MRI of the pelvis was done for only 3 cases. Laparoscopy was done for 39 cases. The 42 patients in this study were classified into four groups according to the etiological diagnosis of CPP. The first grollp included 18 patients with pel vic congestion. The second group included 9 patients with pelvic endometriosis. The third group included 8 patients with pelvic adhesions. The fourth group included 7 patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). |
