Abstract The prognostic value of c-Myc overexpression in NHL patients has not been fully setteled despite numerous Studies. Therefore, we planned this study to evaluate the incidence of c-Myc overexpression among a population of NHL patients by immunohistochernistry technique and study the relation of the findings to the clinical and laboratory prognostic factors and overall survival of the patients. This study was carried out on 59 newly diagnosed NHL patients (35 males and 29 females). Their ages ranged from 2.5-89 years (median age 46 years). The patients were diagnosed by histopathological examination of the lymph node biopsy. All patients included in this Study were subjected to history takirig ; physical examination ; standard blood tests [serum lactic dehydrogenase level, complete blood count, erythocyte sedimentation rate] ; bone marrow aspiration and biopsy ; imaging investigations for clinical staging. All patients were followed up for 18 months after diagnosis. Paients were categorized according to : the age (45 patients < 60 years and 14 patients > 60 years) ; patients with B-symptoms versus 17 patients without); histoPathological grades of the working formulation(16 cases low grade lymphoma, 20 cases intermediate grade lymphoma, and 23 cases high grade lymphoma) and the international prognostic index. |
