Abstract This study was carried out on fifteen patients to evaluate and compare the effect of different sleeve system designs (metallic single short, long and double short sleeves) used with bar joint attachment on - supporting alveolar bone height and mobility of mandibular overdenture canine abutments. Selected patients had completely edentulous maxilla against partially edentulous mandible in which the two canines were the only remaining teeth. Design of this study permits selection of patients randomly for each type equally. where single short sleeve for group A, single long sleeve for group B and double short sleeves for Group C For every patient, maxillary complete denture was constructed against mandibular bar joint overdenture in ordinary manner. Patients ere recalled regularly for inspection, correction, and adjustments of their prosthesis. The effect of single short, long and double short sleeves with rounded bar on the supporting alveolar bone of mandibular canine abutments and their mobility were evaluated by standardized periapical radiographs for estimating the change in abutment alveolar bone height and by macroperiodontometer for estimating the change in its mobility. The periodic follow-up of these parameters was performed immediately before and after 6, 12 and l8 months of overdenture insertion. |
