Abstract

Water pollution is caused basically by man<U+2019>s inability to dispose wastes in a way that don<U+2019>t change the water quality. River Nile pollution is considered to be a very serious problem because it is the source of life in Egypt. Dakahleia Governorate lies near the end of Damietta Nile Branch, so different environmental pollutions are existing in water sources of this region. For these reasons, water samples were collected from different supplies at DK.G. to evaluate it<U+2019>s utility for different domestic uses. All physicochemical parameters of water were within the permissible limits except turbidity at ElSinbllawin W.T.P. during winter. Also T.D.S of AlBakleia and Ahali. M.M. ElDamana were higher than the permissible limits. Nonorganic constituents present in both surface and ground within the permisible limits except chlorides in some wells. Amonia concentration is in versely proportional to the depth of well. The concentration of heavy metals lies within the range Biological and chemical oxygen demand relatively high in surface than groundwater. The concentration of hydrocarbons and Organochlorine compound were highr than the permisable limits. Finally the results obtained obvious than the traditional purification methods are aimed to ** often water and remove certain substances but it is unfavorable for removal heavy metal hydrocarbons and Organochlorine compound. This study recommended that, Limitation of the use artesian water and the unportance of the periodical maintenance and reviewing the stations.
