Abstract This research was carried out on ten completely edentulous patients to study the correlation between stabilization of lower record block and sagittal condylar path inclination. For this study the methods of stabilization of the mandibular record block included; stabilization of the internal surface of the record base by an impression material, stabilization of the external surface of the record base by neutral zone concept and stabilization of the record base internally and externally. For every patient upper conventional record block was constructed against stabilized lower record base internally and externally. Jaw relation was registered and the casts were mounted on the articulator. Protrusive interocclusal record was registered and sagittal condylar path inclination was recorded. A modification of the lower record block was carried out to meet with the different methods of stabilization and sagittal condylar path inclination was recorded . The procedure was repeated with nonstabilized conventional mandibular record block. The results revealed that : The degree of sagittal condylar path inclination obtained with stabilized lower record block was significantly increased than that of nonstabilized one. Stabilization of record base with an impression material exhibited a significant increase in the degree of condylar path inclination than that stabilized with occlusion rim functionally molded into neutral zone area. The degree of sagittal condylar path inclination when the record base was stabilized by an impression material and functionally molded occlusion rim into neutral zone area was significantly more than that stabilized by one of them. |
