Abstract This study was carried out on 32 patient ASA physical status I and II over 20 year scheduled for enucleation and evisceration eye operations at Mansoura Ophthalmic Center, Mansoura University at 20042005. Patients were randomly classified according to aclosed envelop into two groups, first group received general anaesthesia alone (group G) while the second group received general and local anaethesia (group GL) , retrobulbar analgesia was conducted with 8 ml mixture of bupivacaine (0.5%) and lignocaine (2.0%) in a ratio 1:1 using Atkinson technique just after establishment of general anaesthesia . It can be concluded that The addition of retrobulbar block with bupivacaine 0.5% and lidocaine 2% to general anesthesia was superior to general anaesthesia alone as regarded to oculocardiac reflex, post operative pain , nausea and vomiting. |
