Abstract indomethacin treated rats. The kidney was strongly reactive to acid and alkaline phosphatase.Indomethacin and ketofan, were chosen for this study. The drugs were given in a single high dose (20mg/kg) intaperitoneal and also a daily intramuscular therapeutic dose (3.6 mg/kg) for a period ranged from 1-6 weeks. Animals were divided into 3 groups, Control group, Indomethacin injected group and Ketofan injected group. After injection of a single high dose of indomethacin or ketofan, cellular infiltration was observed, some glomeruli were swollen and full of dilated capillaries. These changes were more marked in indomethacin treated kidneys. The renal cortex showed strong reaction to acid and alkaline phosphatase enzymes. After 1 week injection of drugs some glomeruli appeared shrunken and tubules were degenerated. After 2,4 and 6 weeks injection of drugs some glomeruli appeared swollen and tubules were degenerated but the changes were more marked in indomethacin treated rats.
