Abstract The central area of the palatal mucosa just anterior to the maxillary molars was subjected to local injection of acetic acid solution into the mucosa by means of a micro syringe, moreover , a round filter paper was soaked in 50% acetic acid and pressed to the same area of the palatal mucosa. The ulcers in this group were left for normal healing. In the other group the animals were subjected to an induced ulcer, moreover, from the next day of injection, the animals were treated with LArginine. The histological and histochemical results revealed that, healing process of the treated group was ahead of its counterpart of the untreated one. Statistical analysis revealed that there was a gradual decrease in both depth and width of the treated groups than untreated ones and there was a significant difference between the two groups. |
