Abstract

The drug dependants are at risk of nutritional short coming particularly for vitamin A, C and E. The malnutrition in this patients can be consequences of alterations in the contributions, in the absorption or in the metabolism of nutrients, or for an increase ion request, with an inadequate contribution of the same ones. The study was conducted on 150 drug dependants age 1258 years from mansoura city and related villages with inclusion criteria positive history and laboratory detection of substance abuse and exclusion criteria as chronic terminal disease, hepatic illness, renal chronic insufficiency, infectious sharp process in the last months. For every drug dependant a history was taken, detection of the type of substance abuse firstly by enzyme immunoassay method by DAT and then by thin layer chromatography and measurement of antioxidants status of gb scarotene, ga stocopherol and vitamin C by using retrospective calorimetric method and plasma level of nitrite nitrate metabolic end products of nitric oxide by using spectrophotometery using Greiss reaction.
The results of the present study showed that, the mean age of the studied drug dependant was 24.19(R+ (B7.49 with ranged between 12 and 57 years, they addicted to consumption of drug of abuse, specifically cannabis, morphine, barbiturates and benzodiazepines. In this study, the proportion of the participants with low social state were highest in the drug dependants 66.6% and the proportion of the participants with high educational level is lowest in drug dependants 3.3%. In the present study, most of drug dependants consumed large quantity of abused substances Benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cannabis and morphine and the majority of them 75.3% were heavy cigarette smoking more than 6000 cigarette according to Ferris index. from the result of this study, it can be concluded that; The majority of the individual in study were below 30 years, which reflect that the consumption of drugs of abuse is affecting fundamentally to the young sector. In our locality, substances abuse mainly in males and revealed marked affection of them.
The majority of the drug dependants were heavy cigarette smoking and most of them take large quantity of abused substances opiates tramadol, benzodiazepines Apetryl, Cannabis bango and barbiturates comidal.
In our locality, substances abuse is a complex problem due to multiplicity of abusing substances in the same person and the commonest detecting substances of abuse is cannabis, opiates, benzodiazepines and terminally barbiturates. The affection of number of abused substances is marked in the plasma nitric oxide level direct relationship.
The plasma nitric oxide level is directly related while gb scarotene, vitamin C and gastocopherol is inversely related with duration of substances abuses.
