Abstract We studied 20 cases of active intestinal bilhar¬ziasis, selected at randon. All patients were males of average age of 32 years, presenting by upper gastro-intestinal symptoms ”epigastric discomfort, heart burn” with frequent diarrhea and dysentry. They all examined clinically, and endoscopically, bio¬psies were taken from their stomach and duodenum. All patients were subjected to urine and stool analysis, and blood picture. All patients received antibilharzial treatment in the form of oxamniquine in a dose of 60 mg/Kg body weight divided on 3 successive days, and Niridazole in a dose of 4 mg/kg body weight for 20 days. They were re-examined after a lops of 45 days in the same manner. from the history and clinical examination, all patients were presenting by upper gastro intestinal symptoms. Clinically, the liver was shrunken in 15 % of cases, and enlarged in 40 % of cases splenomegally was found in 50 % of cases, ascitis was detected in 15 % of casesa. |
