Abstract Dermatitis herpetiformis is a benign ohronic progressive recurrent disease. It occurs mainly bet¬ween the ages of 20 and 55. The eruption shows char¬acteristic grouping an~ mutiformity of lesions (Papulea. vesicles , excoriation , bullae and pigmentation) they are severly pruritic • The pathogenesis of DH is still only partly und¬erstood. It includes morphological and immunological changes in the skin and small bowel. The typical histopathological features are dermal papillary collections of mostly neutrephils and a lesser percentage of eosinophils. Collagen degeneration around these papillary microabscess. The epidermis becomes detached with the formation of a subepidermal vesidle. Immunofluorescent study shows IgA in most cases deposited in the tips of dermal papillae and less frequ¬ently as a linear pattern at the dermoepidermal junction of early papular or vesicular lesion and in the adjaoent perilesional as well as in the urunvolved akin. |
