Abstract The present study was carried out in an attempt to reveal possible urinary enzymatic changes in urinary schistosomiasis and bladder cancer of bilharzial etio-logy, so that one test or combination of tests could be used for early cancer detection. Some enzymes were selected to serve this purpose i.e. LDH, 16-GT and amino- transf erases ’’GOT GPT11. They were determined both in serum and in 8 hours dialyzed urine samples In addition, liver function tests were carried out. The material of study comprised thirty six pat-ients and ten control subjects. The patients group included sixteen male urinary bilharzial cases (rang- ing in age from 14 to 35 years) showing different pathological bilharzial bladder lesions and twenty male patients with cancer bladder of bilharzial etio- logy (ranging in age from 45 to 63 years), subdivided according to pathological typing into (SeCoCe group,T.C.C. group and A.C. group); staging into (Tl, T29 T 3 & T 4 ); and grading into (G I, G II & G III groups). The ULDH in bilharzial group showed no significant difference from controls while the bladder cancer group. |
