Abstract
particles are affected by interparticle forces with hinder their settling. the particles lend to remain in fixed position with respect to each other, and the mass of particles settles as aunit. asoild-liqued interface develops at the top of the settling mass.
the particles are of such concentration that a structure is formed, and further settling can occur only by compression of the structure.
