Abstract The prevalenoe rates of SChistosomiasis among inhabitants of Dekernis, as well as the prevalenoe of Bulinus and Biomphalaria snails (Intermediate host) in the water channels ot Dekahlia were renewed in the period between 1970 to 198) from reoords ot endemio disease director- ship. - It was notioed that the prevalenoe rate of S.haema~ tobium tended to deorease signifioantl,. from (35.75 %) in 1970 to 10.54 % in 1983. (Z • 4.54). while the preva¬lence rate of S.mansoni had increased signifioantly from 10.88 % in 1970 to 26.22 % in 197~. then it decreased till it reached 16.2 % in 1983. In the local irrigation canals snail intermediate hosts tor a.manson! was more prevalent than those for s.haematoiUDlJ the relative ratio ranging trom 10.2 s 1 to 1.1 : 1. Urine and stool speoimens of 500 pupils whose ages range between 6-10 years old were selected randomly from Primar1 schools in Dekern1s distriot and were examined for detection of schistosoma ova. |
